For Your Safety:
| On All Models Due to high temperatures, the appliance should be located out of traffic and away from furniture and draperies. Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should be kept away to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The installation must conform to local codes. In the absence of local codes, the installation must conform with American National Standard (National Fuel Gas Code) know as NFPA 54 and ANSIZ223.1 (latest edition) available from the American National Standards Institute, Inc., 11 West 42nd St. New York, NY 10036. On Direct Vent Models Direct Vent models are designed certified in accordance with American National Standart/Canadian Gas Association Z21.44-1995 and CAN1-2.19M81, CAN/CGA 2.17-M91. On Vent Free Models Unvented room heater models are design certified in accordance with American National Standards Institute Z21.11.2-1996 by Inchcape Testing/Warnock Hersey, Inc. as an unvented room heater. When used without adequate combustion and ventilation air, stove may give off CARBON MONOXIDE, an odorless, poisonous gas. This stove has a pilot light safety system that turns the stove off if not enough fresh air is available. Do not tamper with this safety system. If the stove shuts off, do not re-light until you provide fresh air. If the stove keeps shutting off, have it serviced. Keep the burner and control compartment clean. |
Carbon monoxide poisoning may lead to
death. Early
signs of carbon monoxide poisoning resemble the flu, with headache,
dizziness,
and/or nausea. If you have these signs, the stove may not be
working
properly. Get fresh air at once and have the stove serviced.
Some people - pregnant women, persons with heart or lung disease, anemia, those under the influence of alcohol, those at high altitudes - are more affected by carbon monoxide than others. On B-Vent Models B-Vent models are design certified in accordance with American National Standard Z21.11.1B- (1995) and CAN1-2.1-M89, CAN/CGA 1.17-M91 by Inchcape Testing/Warnock Hersey Inc., as a Vented Room Heater. Note: A vent safety switch is standard on
all models,
automatically shutting the stove off in the event of a blocked flue or
incorrect installation. (Example: Attaching a 90 degree elbow
directly
to the draft diverter is an incorrect installation.) The flue
pipe
diameter must be as large as the flue collar on the draft diverter and
run as directly as possible to the chimney with a minimum of elbows.
